April 10
— BERLIN (Reuters) - The foreign ministers of Germany and Japan
called on Thursday for a United Nations resolution on the
reconstruction of Iraq.
"We have talked about the role of the United Nations and we share
the position that the United Nations is essential," Germany's
Joschka Fischer said after meeting his Japanese counterpart Yoriko
Kawaguchi in Berlin.
Kawaguchi said: "We share the opinion that we have to be flexible
and dynamic in the reconstruction efforts and that we have to work
toward a U.N. resolution."
Fischer said he hoped Japan could take a crucial role in bringing
together international partners on Iraq.
